This website offers helpful hints to assist members participate in the GHIN Handicap System

A reminder to all of our golfers that maintain a Handicap Index that we must conform to the USGA and Texas Golf Association requirements on reporting scores.  Post your score before midnight of the day the round was played using the handicap kiosks at each course or using any of the internet tools on your mobile device or computer.  Visit http://www.ghin.com to post a score or download the App for your device.  From that website you can also view your scoring history, lookup other golfers, calculate a course handicap, etc.  If you did not post your score immediately, please do so at your first opportunity.

Two basic premises underlie the USGA Handicap System, namely that each player will try to make the best score at every hole in every round and that every player will properly post every acceptable round for peer review Basically, an acceptable round is any round you play, except you cannot post the score if you played alone.    Click here for details of what constitutes an acceptable score.

The Handicap Committee is required to conduct periodic audits of our members to assure that all acceptable scores are being properly posted.  The Handicap Committee must act if a member does not post all acceptable scores or otherwise does not observe the spirit of the USGA Handicap System.  Serious violations will result in a handicap adjustment or even withdrawal of the members handicap index.

Please help your fellow golfers by reminding them of the requirement to post all acceptable scores and to not exceed net double bogey on any hole.  You can review any members scoring history on our handicap computers or the GHIN system, if you are aware of members abusing the system please contact the Handicap Committee Chairman Jerry Obenour (jobenour@hotmail.com).  The handicap committee is obliged to act if a player is abusing the system.  The actions range from a caution letter, to posting a penalty score or even withdrawing the players index.

If you play in one of our club events, or one of our Golf Association events, it is very likely they will automatically post your score for you.  Check with your Association for details.

In summary, the courses are in great shape, enjoy playing golf, join one of many golf associations, and please post all your scores to GHIN.  Even if you do not plan to participate in any events that require a USGA Handicap you may want to join the handicap system just so you can easily track the improvement in your golf game.  Stop by either Proshop and they can get you set up.
